Pathways to success

Northern Education Trust Thorp Academy is celebrating another year of excellent higher education qualifications, with students securing places at some of the UK’s top universities, apprenticeships, and employment pathways.

This year’s results reflect the dedication, resilience, and ambition shown by our Year 13 students. The academy is proud to see students achieving across a wide range of subjects from STEM subjects to the arts and vocational qualifications.

Out of 47 applicants to universities, 36 were accepted onto their first choice course, and 11 were accepted onto the insurance or offered an alternative course. 8 students were accepted into Russell Group universities. 15 students were accepted onto apprenticeships.

We have some notably outstanding achievements:

Jed Nicholson
Through his determination and resilience Jed has achieved outstanding results in the STEM subjects: Mathematics – A*; Physics – A; Computer Science – A; Further Mathematics – A*. He will be studying Computer Science at Durham University.

Charly Pettitt
Charly has secured an impressive range of results in mathematics and science: Biology – A; Chemistry – A; Mathematics – A. Charly will be going on to study Biomedical Sciences at Newcastle University.

Ellie Fellows
Ellie is celebrating major successes in the vocational subjects. Achieving fantastic results in Sport – D* D*; Applied Science – D. She is going on to the University of Central Lancashire to study Paramedic Sciences.

These results are a testament to their hardwork, determination, and the unwavering support of our staff, families and wider community. We know our students will go on to make a real difference in the world, and we wish them every success in their next steps. Whilst we know that the majority are now rightly celebrating their successes, we continue to make ourselves available to all of our students to help them with their next steps beyond Thorp Academy.
